Safety
At Marine Systems, Inc. the safety and health of our employees is a core value.
We are uncompromising in our commitment to the health and safety of our employees. We firmly believe all injuries and accidents can be prevented. Our goal is ZERO. This goal is considered realistic and attainable. We require individual accountability and expect all employees to adhere to our safety standards, as well as actively participate in and support the advancement of our health and safety program.
Towards our goal of ZERO, MSI provides ongoing safety training to develop the safety skills required to drive cultural change. We empower our employees with an understanding of their individual safety leadership role, Behavior-Based Safety principles, and comprehensive risk assessment tools. We challenge them with a commitment of personal accountability and continuous improvement.
We hold safety as the responsibility of all employees. Management is ultimately responsible but every employee, down to the newest employee hired into the company, shares in the responsibility. We understand that no safety program can succeed without the support of upper management and therefore utilize their leadership and guidance for the monitoring and advancement of the safety program. Likewise, by involving employee safety committees to discuss safety initiatives’ progress and effectiveness, and provide input directly to upper management, MSI is able to incorporate a wide range of views and create buy-in to the overall program.
Placing safety as the core value of our culture separates us from our competitors. Our drive to be the best in our industry does not conflict with our position to be the best in safety. Our philosophy is simple and to the point: Safety is good business. It is a benefit to the employee, their families, and the Company to prevent injuries and accidents.
